Custom furniture

Furniture made for the space it will live in — beds, TV units, crockery units, study tables, shoe racks and pooja units, made to sizes that standard retail does not carry.

Options and finishes

Each choice changes both how it looks and how it ages. The materials guide explains the trade-offs.

How long it takes

It depends. How long custom furniture takes is decided before anything is built.

What decides it

  • How much is in scope
  • How quickly design and materials are signed off
  • What your apartment association allows, and when
  • The condition of the space as it stands today

What we check at the site visit

  • Every relevant measurement, against the builder drawing
  • Service positions as actually built
  • Access, working hours and permit rules

This is finalised with you after our site visit, once measurements, design and materials are agreed.

What changes the cost

  • Size and complexity
  • Material and finish
  • Hardware — channels, lift-ups, locks
  • Whether the piece is standalone or built in

Why it is made to a drawing

Furniture bought off a shop floor comes in the sizes the shop decided on. Ours starts from your room: we measure, draw each piece, agree the drawing with you, and only then is it made — so it fits the wall it was drawn for.

Questions about this

Is custom furniture more expensive than buying retail?

Sometimes, and sometimes not. A standard-size bed from a large retailer is hard to beat on price. A unit that has to fit a 2.4 metre alcove with a beam across it is either custom or it is a compromise, and the compromise usually costs more in wasted space than the joinery saves.

Can you build a single piece, without a full home project?

Yes.

Do you make furniture that can be dismantled and moved?

It depends on the piece. Beds and wardrobes can be built as knock-down units with fittings designed to be reassembled; built-in units that follow a wall generally cannot move without damage. Tell us at design stage if the flat is rented and the furniture has to travel with you.

Can you match furniture to what I already own?

Often yes, with photographs and finish details. An exact match to an aged polish is difficult, so a deliberate complementary finish sometimes looks better than a near-miss.
